Harry H. Jahncke, 59, widely known Webster City businessman, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Hamilton county hospital. He had suffered a stroke last Friday evening.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran church with the Rev. Arthur Oswald officiating and with burial at Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10:30 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Harry Herman Jahncke, son of Chris and Sophia Jahncke, was born Oct. 30, 1900 at Postville, Iowa. When he was a small boy, he moved with his parents to Oelwein, where he was reared and educated. He was employed for several years with the Great Western railroad. He later became foreman of the Dunkel Construction Co. of Webster City, a position he held from 1926 to 1935.

He was united in marriage June 20, 1928 to Helen Carstedt at Lanesboro, Minn. His work with the construction company required his residence in many different communities, until 1935 when they moved to Webster City where Mr. Jahncke started the Jahncke Welding shop. In November, 1945, he also became associated with Bert Niebuhr in the J an N Sales and Service implement firm. In 1950 he sold his interest in the welding shop to his son, Delbert, but retained his interest in the J and N company until Jan. 1, 1955, when he sold his interest to Mr. Niebuhr.

Mr. Jahncke is survived by his wife; one son, Delbert of this city; four brothers and two sisters: Ed Jahncke of Ypsilanti, Mich., Fred Jahncke of Postville, Iowa; Alvin Jahncke, Oelwein, Vernie Jahncke of Webster City; Mrs. Emma Swarts, Fayette, Iowa and Mrs. Katie Hoppes of Oelwein, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Mr. Jahncke was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran church. He was past president of the Webster City Kiwanis club, a former member of the Hamilton County Fair board and also active in the 4-H Foundation.
