Helen Jahncke, 91, Webster City, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000 at Crestview Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bill VanNostrand officiating. Private burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, prior to the 11 a.m. service. Visitation will be at the church from 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Helen Hannah Carstedt, daughter of Theodore and Augusta Pogge Carstedt, was born April 11, 1909 at Schleswig, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents in 1914. They settled in northwest Iowa, later moving to Oelwein, where she attended school. On June 20, 1928 she married Harry Herman Jahncke at Lanesboro, Minn. Because of Mr. Jahncke's involvement in construction, the couple resided in different communities until 1934, when they moved to Webster City. She had worked at Hahne Printing and the Flower Cart. Mr. Jahncke died on Feb. 1, 1960. She continued to reside in Webster City, moving to Crestview Manor in November of 1998.

She is survived by her son, Delbert Jahncke, Webster City, Donna Lu Frederickson, Webster City, Mildred Swihart, Davenport, nephew Harry Karnes, several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Elly Gleffe and Erna Karnes.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Ladies Aid, Lutheran Layman League, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.
