Karen Wauneta Possehl Larson Bel, 61, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 at her home in Texas following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 3 at her home. She had requested that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association, which may be accessed at www.lungusa.com or donations may be sent to the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.

Karen Waunea Possehl, daughter of Frederick and Hazel Possehl, was born March 23, 1929 [1939]. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1957, and was married later that year to Richard Larson, also from Eagle Grove. They had three children, Mark, Deanna and Eric, and lived for several years in Webster City. In 1982, Richard and Karen moved to Pearland, Texas where she worked as a legal office administrator for several years before her illness prevented her from working full time. She married Jan Bel of Houston, Texas in 1995. They lived in Oak Island, Texas for two years before her death.

Survivors are her husband, Jan Bel, her ex-husband Richard Larson and three children, all of Pearland, Texas, three step-children and ten grandchildren.

[The obituary in the DFJ stated that Karen was born in 1929 and graduated in 1957 which told me something was incorrect so I found a 1940 census for her family and she was only 1 year old in 1940 so I changed her birthdate]
