Elaine Smith Evans, 64, Webster City, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, and after 11:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Elaine Luene Bills, daughter of Jesse and Myrna Blankenship Bills, was born Oct. 7, 1936 at Hampton. She received her education at Swaledale. On April 5, 1954 she married Gerald John Smith at Jackson Junction, Iowa. The couple resided in Webster City from 1954 to 1960, then moved to Duncombe and to Woolstock in 1963. They divorced in 1975. She married Harold Raymond Evans at Yankton, SD. The couple resided at Webster City. Mr. Evans died June 19, 1991. She had worked at the Hillcrest Nursing Home as a cook and nurses assistant for several years. For 20 years, she worked at Southfield, as the food service supervisor. For two years, she worked at Crestview Manor as a nursing assistant. She retired in 1995.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Danny Aldrich, Beth and Jim Gordon, all of Webster City, Kathy and Larry Anderson, Eagle Grove, son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Joy Smith, University Place, Wash., 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; mother, Myrna Bills of Mason City, sister, Linda Folkerds of Grinnell, brothers, Ernest Bills of Mason City, Larry Bills of Maxwell, Gary Bills of Aredale, James Bills of Rockwell, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and two great-grandsons. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
