Jess Osborn, 89, Stratford, died at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on Friday, Sept. 25, 2000. He had been a resident at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford since February, 1999.

Services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Dale Schoening officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Stark Welin Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Jess Osborn, son of Fred and Anna Powell Osborn, was born July 1, 1911 in Dayton. He married Dora Bass on Oct. 8, 1932 at Dayton. He farmed his entire life in the Stratford area until he retired. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford.

Survivors are his wife, Dora, two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Roger Hoshaw, Stratford, Dolores and Dennis Bergman, Stratford, six grandchildren, Tony and Sharon Bergman of Stratford, Doug and Jan Bergman of Stratford, Greg and Lisa Bergman of Stratford, Darle and Nancy Hoshaw of Forest City, Kevin and Julie Hoshaw of Stratford, Shelley and David Marvin of Boone, nine great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Tyler Hoshaw of Gilbert, Bradley and Becky Marvin of Boone, Jenna and Carri Bergman, Ashley and Scott Bergman, Janson Bergman, all of Stratford, a sister, Connie Dally of Fort Dodge, and one brother, Fred Osborn, Jr., Stratford.
