Richard Lloyd Karr, 52, Webster City, died Thursday, August 10, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City with Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Sunday followed by a scripture service at Foster Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Survivors are a son, Austen Richard Karr and a daughter, Brenna Lindsey Karr. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Karr and a sister, Janet Ann Essig, both of Webster City.

Richard Lloyd Karr was born Dec. 7, 1945 at Webster City. He graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy. He attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minn. and received a B.S. Degree from the College of Great Falls in Montana. He then attended and graduated from law school receiving a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University in Omaha. He married Nancy Elizabeth Amlie of Humboldt on Sept. 11, 1982.

He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Karr, and his grandparents, Daniel and Mary Phelan and Charles and Margaret Elizabeth Karr.

Following his admission to the Iowa Bar, he practiced law with his father and mother, Lloyd and Margaret Karr. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Iowa State Bar Association, Hamilton County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers and the Iowa Trial Lawyers. He recently completed 12 years serving as a member of the Board of Governors of the Iowa Bar Association. He had served as president of the Webster City Lions Club. He had also served as a member of the Board of the Farmers National Bank and as city attorney for Webster City.
