Irma Darnell, 96, Webster City, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at the Southfield Care Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Irma Ruth Carrier, daughter of Henry and Alice Crane Carrier, was born Sept. 7, 1903 at Middlebury, Vt. At the age of 7, the family moved to the Webster City area. When she was 18, she moved to Kansas City and returned two years later. On April 19, 1924 she married Ralph G. Darnell at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. She was a homemaker. Mr. Darnell died June 15, 1966. She moved to Southfield in 1991.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Frances Darnell of San Diego, Calif., grandson, David Darnell of Radford, Va., sister Elvera Austen of Kansas City, Mo., several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Darnell, daughter, Viola Jean Darnell, her parents and brothers, Dr. Edson, Virgil and Arnold Carrier.

She was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and a former member of the Webster City Women's Club.
