Tilda Mae Briggs, 94, Webster City, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at the Crestview Manor Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church after 11 a.m. Monday. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral Home.

Tilda Mae Rice, daughter of William and Augusta Pearson Rice, was born Sept. 19, 1905 at Webster City. She graduated from Vernon High School at Renwick. On April 25, 1925 she married William Clement Briggs at Clarion. The couple farmed in the Webster City area. They moved to Webster City in 1948. She had worked at Star Laundry and K & M Laundry and retired from Morton Frozen Foods. Mr. Briggs died January 10, 1977.

Survivors are her daughter, Lois Gordon of Webster City, grandchildren, Judy Holdgrafer, Mike Briggs, Pamela Hayes and Angela Heaford, eight great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Joy Wilson of Webster City and Donna Briggs of Camarillo, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons Galen and Deryl Briggs, daughter Ruth Reichenbach, grandson, Kenneth Gordon, son-in-law, William Gordon; her parents, brothers Roy and David Rice, sisters Alice Nicol, Lillian Hanson, Pearl Smith and Elsie Rice.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, church circles and the Webster City Senior Citizens Club.
