Sharon Gumm, 56, Des Moines, a former Webster City resident, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at the Iowa Lutheran Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday.

Sharon Kay Bray, daughter of Sam and Helen Lawson Boring, was born June 26, 1944 at Boone. She received her education in the Boone and Webster City school systems. On April 20, 1963 she married Richard Lawrence at Woolstock. To this union, a son and two daughters were born. She had worked at Morton Frozen Foods, Franklins (Frigidaire), Beams (Electrolux) and Hardee's. The couple divorced and she moved to Des Moines in 1991. On April 9, 1992 she married Albert James Gumm at Des Moines. She worked at Hardee's and the Iowa Newspaper Association. Because of failing health, she retired in 1995.

Survivors are her husband, Jim; son and daughter-in-law, Rich and Beth Lawrence Jr., Carlisle; daughters and son-in-law, Nancy Beightol and her fiance Scott Burnett, Webster City; Kathy and Jason Caskey of Altoona, stepchildren, Dennis and Denise Gumm of Carlisle, Debra and Kevin Barnes of Des Moines, Alan and Mary Gumm of Davenport, Jody and Ron Sandusky of Des Moines, two grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, her father, Sam Boring, Webster City; brothers Earl Bray, St. Paul Park, Minn., Edie Bray, Lake Crystal, Minn., sisters, Emily Donahue, Joplin, Mo., Virginia Willson, Webster City, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Mrs. Gumm was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles - Aerie #109.
