Russell McCollough, 76, Webster City, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Russell Lyman McCollough, son of Maxwell and Effie Lacey McCollough, was born on June 26, 1927 at Webster City. He received his education in Webster City Schools. In 1942, he entered the United States Navy, where he served with the Seabees at Saipan and Okinawa, being honorably discharged in 1946. In July of 1946, he married Darlene Hawkenson at Redwing, MN. To this union, four sons and four daughters were born. The couple later divorced. He was employed by King Koil as a truckdriver until 1977. In July of 1978, he married Betty Larson Hefty at Webster City. He worked in the maintenance department at the Hamilton County Public Hospital until retiring in 1990. Betty died August 16, 1994. On July 17, 2001 he married Janet Foster Larson at Elk Point, SD. The couple resided in Webster City.

Mr. McCollough is survived by his wife, Janet; sons and daughter-in-law, Russell and Gina McCollough of Escondido, CA; Ronald and Randall McCollough, both of Minneapolis, MN; daughters and son-in-law, Rebbecca Bedow of Redwing, MN; Roxanne Velsko of Escondido, CA, Renee McCollough of Williams, Rutheen and Jim White of Minneapolis, MN; step-sons and spouses, Perry and Arlys Hefty of Denver, CO., Steven and Gaylyn Hefty of Plano, TX., Jeff and Paula Larson of Rockwell City, Marty and Gayle Larson of Kansas City, MO; step-daughters and spouses, Kathleen and Jerry Nelson of Winters, CA., Barbara and Jon Cory of Fort Dodge, Jaci and Jerry Heard of Davenport; 13 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gwendolyn Whalen of Centralia, IL., brother and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Gayle McCollough of Apache Junction, AZ., Donnabelle McCollough of Eagle Grove; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert McCollough; sisters, Evelyn McCollough and Leona Kunz; brothers, Lyle and Maynard McCollough.

Mr. McCollough was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #191 and life member of V.F.W. Post #5724. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved taking care of his yard.
