Margaret Esther Opheim, 93, Webster City, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home and after noon on Saturday at the church.

Margaret Esther Nail, daughter of Allen and Olive Christ Nail, was born March 17, 1910 on a farm northeast of Webster City. She attended a rural school in that area and also attended Webster City High School. On Jan. 24, 1931 she married Rayner Edward Malaise at Webster City. The couple farmed east of Woolstock. Mr. Malaise died in June of 1937. She worked in food service for the Woolstock Public School for 13 years. She attended the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas and was a missionary at Chico, Mexico for two years. She returned to the United States and on Feb. 16, 1958 she married Sampson Opheim at the Rio Grande College. The couple farmed at Thor, then moved to Webster City in 1970. Mr. Opheim died Jan. 2, 1982. She continued to reside at Webster City. She moved to Crestview Senior Living in October of 2001.

Mrs. Opheim is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Raymond Luppes, Webster City; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Marilyn Malaise, Linn Valley, Kan., nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jessie Wilson and brother E.C. (Buster) Nail, both of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Keith Malaise in 1974; her parents; brothers Marion (Pete), John, Charles, Wayne and Ray Nail; sister Ruth Christian.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at Webster City.
