Nadene Ewen, 85, Cave Creek, Ariz., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Mayo Clinic at Phoenix, Ariz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Charles City, with Rev. Brian Shepley, a nephew, officiating.

Nadene Katherine Kipp, daughter of Frank and Catherine De Bettignes Kipp, was born Feb. 26, 1918 at New Hampton. She graduated from New Hampton high school in 1936. On Sept. 23, 1944, she married Kenneth Andrew Ewen at Flint, Mich. The couple resided at Charles City, moving to Webster City in 1954. She had been a medical receptionist for Dr. E.F. Brown for many years. She also worked at the Hamilton County Assessor's office. She retired in 1981. Mr. Ewen died June 20, 1992.

Mrs. Ewen is survived by son, Kip Ewen of Algona; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Joseph Sabol of Cave Creek; grandchildren, Deb and Sarah Ewen; Joe and Mellissa Sabol; sister, Mecedes Phipps.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Hamilton County Hospice/Respite, Home Health Care, a Nursing Home Volunteer and Nursing Home-Care Review Committee. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International where she shared many years of philanthropic service accompanied by her daughter.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
