Mrs. Bernice J. Crawford of Fairfield Bay, Ark., passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at the Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Muscatine, Iowa, on Feb. 17, 1910, Mrs. Crawford was 93 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Jeanne (Keller) Horst.

Bernice was a registered nurse and graduated from nurses training at the Benjamin Hershey Memorial Hospital of Muscatine in 1929. She married Dr. Anton F. Beisner of Muscatine on Aug. 13, 1930. In 1949, they moved to Webster City where they lived until the death of Dr. Beisner in April of 1964. Bernice returned to the nursing profession from 1964 to 1972. On Nov. 26, 1972 she married Homer E. Crawford and they lived in Webster City until moving to Fairfield Bay, Ark. in 1976.

She had served as Blood Service Chairman for Van Buren County for the American Red Cross, working at the blood pressure clinic at Fairfield Bay. She was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Arts and Crafts, Library Volunteers and Lakeview Chapter 609 of the Order of the Eastern Star at Edgemont.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by her grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be announced at a later date by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR., 72543.
