William Prescott, 65, died suddenly Saturday, March 8, 2003 at The Villages, Fl. Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Webster City, Saturday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. David Vernon officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Meriden, NH.

William Paul Prescott was born April 8, 1937 in Whitefield, NH to Warren Putnam and Mary Howe Prescott. He grew up in Lebanon, NH, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1955. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959 and went to work for the New Hampshire Insurance Co. in Manchester, NH.

On Aug. 15, 1959 he married Mabel Rogers in Meriden, NH. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in September of 1960 where he was a company representative traveling throughout the state. On July 1, 1964 he joined Philip Larson as partner in the Town and Country Agency in Webster City. He retired from Town and Country Insurance on July 1, 2002.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Webster City, where he sang in the choir and served on various boards throughout the years. He was also a member of Acacia Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Webster City and Eagle Chapter, O.E.S. of Eagle Grove. He was a past president of the Webster City Chamber of Commerce, the Webster City Kiwanis Club, and the Iowa Insurance Marketing Group, a past Patron of the Sharon Chapter, O.E.S., Webster City, and previously served on the board of First State Bank. He was also involved in several committees in the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, daughter Anne of Bloomington, Ind., son, Wayne (Heather) of Burlington, CT, brother, Lloyd (Barbara) of Post Mills, VT., and West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Dan (Laura) of Latham, NY; five nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.
