Melvin E. Cormaney, 91, Woolstock, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Woolstock with Rev. Ruth Lovejoy officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services at the church. Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Melvin E. Cormaney, son of Earl and Anna Schultz Cormaney, was born Feb. 18, 1912 at Blairsburg. He married Alma Hopkins in October of 1941 at Princeton, Mo. Melvin operated the Cargill Elevator in Cumings, Iowa, for many years and then moved to Woolstock in the early 60s. Mr. Cormaney farmed in the Woolstock area retiring in the late 70s. He also owned and operated Cormaney Grocery Store in Woolstock during the 60s.

Mr. Cormaney is survived by his wife Alma, daughter and son-in-law, LaNonne and Jack Beery of Gilbert, Ariz., son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Patricia Cormaney of Washington, DC and daughter-in-law, Patricia Cormaney of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Jacki Willett of Gilbert, Ariz., Mike Cormaney of Washington, DC, Kathy Bumick of Maple Grove, Minn., three great-grandchildren, brother, Carl Cormaney of Woolstock, and sister Daisy Hill of Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his son, David in 2002.
