Services for Harriet B. Zimmerlin, 97, will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Bruce Memorial Chapel in Fort Dodge with Rev. Gordon Watson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City immediately following services. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Harriet B. Zimmerlin, formerly of Fort Dodge, was born Dec. 21, 1905 in Elgin, Iowa, and passed away Dec. 23, 2002. She was the daughter of Jennie and Samuel Mosby. Harriet was united in marriage to George Vernelle Zimmerlin in 1927 and resided in and near Duncombe, moving to Fort Dodge in 1953. To this union, five children were born. Harriet has made her home with her daughter, Betty Moore in Columbia, Mo. the last few months.

Harriet graduated from Elgin High School, attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa, attended the University of Iowa and received her B.S. degree from Drake University in Des Moines. Harriet taught school for 32 years, the last 20 being at the Duncombe School in Fort Dodge. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Women's Society, Olive White Shrine, fifty-year member of the Eastern Star, Women's Club, National, State and Local Retired Teacher's Association, Story Tellers, etc.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Vernelle in 1978, sons, Roger G. in 1942, and Dean C. in 2001. Harriet is survived by her son, William Zimmerlin of Prescott Valley, Ariz., daughters Leah Bowlsby of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Betty Moore of Columbia, Mo., nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
