Dolores "Dode" Shaeffer, 78, of Webster City, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2002 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday.

Dolores Mae Kingsley, daughter of Chan and Myrtle Slack Kingsley, was born July 19, 1924 at Mitchell, S.D. At the age of three, she moved with her parents to Webster City. She attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1942. On July 18, 1943 she married Samuel Paul Shaeffer at Webster City. Following Mr. Shaeffer's discharge from the U.S. Army the couple resided in Webster City. She had worked at the Freeman-Journal, Williams Drug and Morton Frozen Foods. The couple retired in 1979 and moved to Osage, MN in 1986. They returned to Webster City in 1999. She had resided at Crestview Manor for the past two months.

Mrs. Shaeffer is survived by her husband, Sam; daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Bob Asklund; Lori Kelly and Tom Halvorson, all of Webster City; grandchildren, Carla and Tom Grooms; Wendy and Tom Hartmann, Jason and Tanya Asklund, all of Webster City, Brian and Catherine Asklund of Bondurant; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Kingsley, sister, Mildred Kingsley. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary.
