Henry Crawford, 59, Webster City, died Saturday, Nov., 23, 2002 at his home, following a two-year battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Carmody officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until 2 p.m.

Henry Junior Crawford, son of Henry Clay and Fannie D. Samples Crawford, was born Sept. 13, 1943 at Hickory County, Missouri. He attended Skyline High School in Urbana, Missouri, graduating in 1962. On August 9, 1973 he married Laraine (Laurie) Maxon at Wheatland, Mo. He worked as a custodian for 15 years at Glenwood State Hospital School at Glenwood, moving to Webster City in 1987. In Webster City, he worked at Hardees and Southfield Wellness Center and part time at RSVP and Fuller Hall.

Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Laraine, daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Joe Carroll of Des Moines, Rachel and Rev. Todd McKeever of Lee's Summit, Mo., Rebecca Crawford of Webster City, sisters, Zelda Ellison of Springfield, Mo., Bettie Wells of Lee's Summit, Mo., Patsy Detko of Kansas City, Mo., Verna Winfiel of Bolivar, Mo., brothers Billie Crawford of Independence, Mo., Bartie Crawford of Glenwood, Ia., Tommie Crawford of Kansas City, Mo., grandchildren, Zachary and Camille McKeever, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bobbie Dean Crawford in infancy, and Buster Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was an active member of the New Covenant Christian Church in Fort Dodge. He often could be found playing fiddle and guitar in various bluegrass groups, which entertained in care centers, churches and community events. He was honored in 2001 by the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, along with his brothers, for preserving Bluegrass traditional music. He used his singing talent to share his love for Christ with all those around him, often harmonizing with his family.
