Viola Paulsen Brewer was born Dec. 12, 1910 in Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of A.D. and Henrietta Paulsen. The family moved to Denison while Viola was in grade school. The Paulsen's moved to Webster City in Vi's junior year in high school. She graduated from Lincoln High in 1928 and from Webster City Junior College in 1930.

Joe and Vi Brewer were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City on March 20, 1932. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Richard and wife Bernita of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Larry and wife Ellen of Charles City, Iowa and Dennis and wife Judy of White Bear Lake, Minn.

The Brewers lived in Webster City their entire married life. Their homes were at 810 Boone St., 843 Water St. and Crestview Apartments. Vi's last year was spent at Crestview Manor.

Vi was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Webster City Country Club, the Women's Club and various card groups. She worked in her earlier years as a bookkeeper at Jansen's Auto, Buel's Oldsmobile and Dunn's Market.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, A.D. and Henrietta, her husband Joe in 1999, and her daughter-in-law, Aletha Brewer also in 1999.

She is survived by her sister, Ramona Cohrs of Davis, Calif., her three sons and their wives, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be present for a viewing at Foster's Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The funeral will be at St. Paul's Church, 1005 Beach St., Webster City, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
