Ansel Sackrison, 90, passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford, Iowa on Saturday afternoon, October 26, 2002 due to congestive heart failure. Ansel had been a resident at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center since November of 1997.

She was born on December 5, 1011 in Stratford, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Mabel (Holstrom) Anderson.

On June 27, 1940 she married Carl Sackrison at Stratford, Iowa.

Ansel was a 1929 graduate of Stratford High School and received her Teaching Certificate from State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught in the country schools around the Stratford area until her marriage. Ansel was a homemaker and for 13 years was a cook for the Stratford school system.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Stratford Women's Club. Ansel enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Her parents, husband Carl in December of 1985 and three brothers preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Carlene Solbach and her husband Rolf of Algona, Iowa, Shirley Jorgenson and her husband Jerome of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one son, John Sackrison and his wife Linda of Lompoc, California; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services were held Wednesday morning, October 30 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, Iowa with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating.

Interment was at the Hardin Township Cemetery, southwest of Stratford.

Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford was in charge of arrangements.
