Funeral services for Fred Grandgeorge, 84, Iowa Falls, a former resident of the Woolstock, Webster City and Williams communities, were held Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Surls and Grupe Funeral home in Iowa Falls with burial in Union Cemetery at Iowa Falls.

The Rev. Virgil Shickell of Colo. officiated at the services.

Mr. Grandgeorge died Feb. 23 at the Grossmount hospital in LaMesa, Calif. He had been spending the winter in California.

Fred Grandgeorge, son of G.F. and Mary Grandgeorge, was born Jan. 23, 1898 near Woolstock.

He was married to Mattie Schmidt at Des Moines. The couple farmed near Webster City until 1929, then moved to Williams where they resided until 1973. They had lived in Iowa Falls since that time.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Sandal of Iowa Falls; two granddaughters; two brothers, Charles Grandgeorge of Woolstock and Ralph Grandgeorge of Webster City.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star at Williams.

Mr. Grandgeorge saw service with the U.S. Army during World War I.
