Mavis Dee Hoyt, 70, Rome, Maine, died at her home Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Belgrade Lakes Union Church UMC, Route 27, Belgrade Lakes, Maine. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland, Maine.

She was born in Webster City July 17, 1932, the daughter of George and Marvel Vasbinder Wells. She graduated from Webster City High School, and received nurses training in Marshalltown. She worked several years as an RN in Webster City and Des Moines. For a few years, she worked in her husband's chiropractic office in Humboldt.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 147 in Humboldt, a member of the KVM Club in Belgrade and a member of the Long Pond Literary Club. She was an active member of the Belgrade Lakes Union Church UMC, Belgrade Lakes, Maine.

Survivors are her husband, David Hoyt, who she married on Sept. 22, 1967, a son, Steven Schulz of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Virginia Comeford and husband Timothy of Rome, Maine, and Candace Richter and husband David of Andover, Mass., two sisters, Lois Crawford of Tennessee and Jean Wells of Webster City, two grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole Richter; three step-sons, Michael and Timothy Hoyt of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeffrey Hoyt of San Diego, Calif.
