Mildred M. Madsen, 86, Marshalltown, died Sept. 7, 2002 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center of natural causes. A private family service will be held at a later date. Neptune Society of Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred was born June 27, 1916, the daughter of Julian and Mable (LaVanway) Collins at Sarles, ND. She lived in Webster City before moving to Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Madsen, and her daughter, Rita Arends. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Carla Madsen of Marshalltown, daughter Penny Berg of Ottumwa, two brothers, Bud Collins of Brigham City, Utah and Frank Collins of Laurens; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
