Ida Jeanne Dakin Svenson was born Sept. 8, 1921 to Emery and Flossie Dakin in Webster City. Their family moved to Spooner, Wis. in the early 1930s. Jeanne attended four years of training at the Marshalltown School of Nursing. Following graduation in 1944, she enlisted in the U.S. Army-Air Force. She spent her time in the service in Germany until her discharge at the rank of lieutenant. After her years in the service, she went to work for the boys school in Coshocton, Ohio. From there, she moved to San Francisco where she graduated from the IBM Computer School in the early 1950s and was one of the early IBM computer technicians. Jeanne later moved back to Webster City and became the supervisor of the OB department at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. She married John Svenson on August 13, 1960 at the Methodist Parsonage. She continued to work at the hospital and then as a nurse for Dr. Patterson. Jeanne and John retired in 1975 and eventually moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz. where they built a new home in 1977. They remained there until the fall of 1994, when they moved back to Webster City. Jeanne became sick and moved to Crestview Manor on Dec. 31, 1999 and remained there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Flossie; her father Emery, her three brothers, Darwin, Warren and Wayne; also by her three sisters, Vi Wedlund, Madeline Nelson and Donna Doolittle. She is survived by her husband, John; her son, John and his family, Shirley, Dana and Alyson Svenson.

Jeanne liked to camp, crochet, macrame, make all kinds of crafts, including beautiful native wood clocks, playing bridge and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the discretion of the family.
