Bessie Coyla Harvey, 86, 1060 Brown Ave., Galesburg, died Monday, July 4, 2005 in Seminary Manor.

She was born January 5, 1919 in Woolstock, Iowa, the daughter of McCoy and Ellen Ethyl Beall Parrish. She married Delbert R. Harvey on August 20, 1940 in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Rita J. (and Paul) Sandborg, Galesburg, Ill., and Jacquelyn A. (and Larry) Davis, Neptune Beach, FL, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters.

She was a homemaker and was accomplished in the arts of needle work, home crafts, gardening, piano and organ. She graduated from Woolstock High School in 1936 and had lived in Woolstock and Webster City, Iowa during her early years. She had lived in Galesburg for 60 years. She was of Christian faith. She volunteered her time to many school organizations. She was a past member of the Lake Bracken Country Club. She had served as an election judge in Knox County for many years.

Graveside services will be 10 AM Thursday at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL., Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 6:30 PM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
