J.R. Buxton, 53, died at 4 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past eight weeks. He had been in ill health for the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. E.G. Brinkmeyer and the Rev. J.L. Neighbours officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

John Reuel Buxton, son of Otho and Jennie Buxton, was born June 18, 1904 in Webster City. He attended the Webster City schools and was graduated with the class of 1922.

He attended Kansas University, later transferring to the University of Iowa from which he was graduated. He was affiliated with Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Delta Sigma Phi fraternities at the University of Iowa. Following his graduation he returned to Webster City and for the past several years he had been in the real estate brokerage business.

He was united in marriage June 20, 1928 to Miss Marie Garth, and the couple had always made their home in Webster City.

He is survived by his wife; two brothers, G.W. Buxton, Iowa City and Dr. O.C. Buxton of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Laurie Vest; and one brother, Dr. George V. Buxton.

Mr. Buxton was a member of the Congregational church and a member of the Elks and Masonic lodges.
