Patricia Francis died Sunday, April 17, 2005 after a year-long illness.

Pat was born in Webster City, Iowa on July 12, 1932 to Virgil and Ellen Boozell. While attending Lincoln High School, she worked after school hours as a nurse's aide at Hamilton County Hospital. She married William Francis in 1949. In 1959 she and her family moved to Ames where she worked for the City of Ames and later, as an Accounting Technician at the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT). After her husband's death in 1995, Pat retired from the DOT to pursue her interests in world-traveling, playing bridge, attending ISU classes and sport events, working out in the gym and indulging in her life-long love of reaching. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Red Hat Society and worked as a volunteer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

She is survived by her three daughters: Colleen Francis (Ben Saturen), Susan Francis (Chris Batzer), Jil (Frank) Kiernan and two sons: Robert (Martha) Francis and David (Brenda) Francis, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. While flowers are appreciated, memorial contributions may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House and the St. Cecilia's Church building fund.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting Pat's family with arrangements.
