Vera McCartney, 83, Webster City, died Oct. 21, 2001. She passed away at the Israel Family Hospice Home in Ames. Vera was buried in California [Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, California] with her husband and son.

Survivors include granddaughter Kerry Reynolds of California, grandson, Chris McCartney of California; daughter-in-law, Dee McCartney of California; sister Zelpha Williams of Tulsa, Okla., lots of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Winefred Hurst [they are buried at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa], husband, Cliff McCartney, son Gary McCartney, sisters Dorothy Kibbe, Thelma Nairn and brother Howard Hurst.

Vera was born on a farm in Hancock County, June 19, 1918.
