Hila Bergeson, 81, Fort Dodge, a former Webster City resident, died Thursday, August 30, 2001 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Monday and at the church prior to the service.

Hila Jane Gage, daughter of James and Maude Studley Gage, was born May 4, 1920 at Webster City. She received her education from Webster City Community Schools. On Sept. 25, 1941 she married Leonard Martin Bergeson at Blairsburg. The couple resided near Jewell. Following Mr. Bergeson's discharge from the US Army, the couple moved to Webster City. In the early 50's, she had been employed at Morton's Frozen Foods. In the late 50's, she was employed at Star Laundry. In 1961, she started employment with the Webster City School System at Washington Central Junior High in dietary. She retired in 1990. In September of 1997, she moved to the U.S.A. Health Care Center in Fort Dodge. Mr. Bergeson died in 1994.

Mrs. Bergeson is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Chester Blomgren of Stanhope, Barbara and David Hill of Ames; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kay Bergeson of Webster City, Dennis Bergeson of Stratford, Edward and Marilyn Bergeson of Fort Dodge; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil Gage of Webster City; sisters, Velda Apel of Charles City and Mabel Warwick of Webster City, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Matthew Bergeson; sisters Velma Crovisier, Mae Benson, 3 sisters in infancy and brothers Clarence and Clifford Gage.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors.
