Dale O. Graves, 84, Webster City, died Monday, August 27, 2001 at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter and Lay Pastor Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. at the church Friday.

Dale Ovid Graves, son of Charles and Mary Downey Graves, was born June 8, 1917 at Davis City, Iowa. He attended rural school south of Davis City and graduated from Lamoni High School in 1934. He was active in football in high school. On August 29, 1936 he married Ruby Barnum at Onawa, Iowa. The first five years of their marriage, Dale worked on a barge on the Missouri River, then a Chevrolet Garage in Logan, Iowa, and for a short time, a packing company in Omaha. In 1945, they moved to Webster City. He worked for Nissen's for 3 years, then for Interstate Bakery (Butternut Bread), later known as Old Home Bread. After retirement in 1974, the couple spent 15 winters in Weslaco, Texas.

Dale is survived by his wife, Ruby; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and LaVonne Graves, Lonnie and Erma Graves, all of Webster City; Ronnie and Linda Graves of Dublin, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Connie and Paul Riley of Eagle Grove; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Clella Pickering of Garden Grove, Calif., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Payne, brothers Earl, Jim and Forrest Graves; half brother Bill Bennett, sister, Ellen Dunbar and half sister Minnie Craig.

Mr. Graves was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the Good Sam Club, Webster City Senior Citizens Club and the Webster City Moose Lodge.
