Billy Ryder, 64, Webster City, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenneth Fogelman and Cindi O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.

Billy James Ryder, son of Sam and Delia Swanson Ryder, was born May 15, 1937 at Murphy, North Carolina. He received his education at Granite Falls, N.C. He served with the U.S. Air Force at Japan and Kansas City. On April 29, 1961 he married Lynda Mulholland at Webster City. Following his discharge, the couple moved to Webster City in 1962. He worked for the City of Webster City in various departments, retiring in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Pam Ryder of Fort Dodge; Mark and Denise Ryder of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jay Bell of Webster City; grandchildren, Lyndi and Ryan Ryder, Fort Dodge, Dylan, Stephanie, Dalton and Kaylee Ryder of Webster City; brothers and sisters, Imojean Hildebran, Clara Sue Wilkerson, Doris Lynn Hildbran, Debbie Kay Ryder and Charles Warren Ryder, all of Granite Falls; Johnny Eugene Ryder of Martinez, Ga., several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Richards and Schuvon Tripplett, brothers Thurston and Bruce Ryder.

He was a member of Lighthouse Ministries of Fort Dodge. His special interests were woodworking and NASCAR racing.

Memorials may be given to Hamilton County Hospice.

He will be deeply missed by family and close friends.
