Amos Severson, 88, longtime Webster City resident, died this morning at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he had been a patient the past 12 days. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. David R. LaMaster officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

John Amos Severson, son of John and Ellen Jacobson Severson was born Feb. 20, 1894, on a farm near Duncombe and was reared and educated in that area. He was united in marriage on Dec. 20, 1922, to Bessie Marie Legg, and the couple farmed in the Duncombe-Webster City area. Since 1946 they had resided on a farm southwest of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan. 22, 1978, and he had continued to reside on the farm.

He is survived by a son-in-law and daughter, Robert and Ellen Evans of Webster City; one grandson, Lyle Evans of Stratford; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jason, Donny a d Megan Evans, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He was baptized and confirmed at the Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe.
