Charles Evans Dies in City

Charles Evans, 70, died at 4 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital following an Illness of three and one-half weeks.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. J. A. Farnham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Charles Evans, son of John and Jane Evans, was born July 17, 1875, at Beason, Illinois. He was reared and educated there and came to Iowa in 1800, locating on a farm southwest of Webster City.

He was united in marriage in 1890 to Miss Rose Silvers and the family farmed for a number of years before moving into Webster City. To this union four sons were born: Harold S. Evans of Des Moines; Ralph of Webster City; Raymond J. of Des Plaines, 111., and Lyle Evans of Seneca Falls, N. Y.

Mrs. Evans died in 1934. In 1936 he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Silvers, and the family had since made Its home in Webster City.

Besides the four sons, he Is survived by his wife; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Wilson of Benson, 111.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
He was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a member of the Methodist Church in Webster City. The family requests no flowers.
