Valerie Thompson, 87, Webster City Valerie Thompson, 87, of Southfield Wellness Community, passed away at Hamilton Hospital on March 2, 2007. Valerie requested cremation and a memorial service with family and close friends Wednesday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge.

She was born to Jesse and Minnie Mathew on Aug. 2, 1919, near Lehigh. She received her education in the Webster City Schools. In 1939, she married Lee Thompson. There were no children born to this union. They spent most of their married lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. When her husband died in 1975, she moved back to Webster City, where she lived for seven years. She then moved to Fort Dodge for 17 years with the last two to three years at Friendship Haven. She then moved back to Webster City to Crestview Apartments and later to Southfield Care Center.

She is survived by three nieces, Joyce Fulton, Webster City, Delores Rusk, Fort Dodge, and Sandy Boekleman of Woodbury, Minn.; five nephews. Merlin Natto of Florida, Bernie Mathew of Cedar Rapids, Wendell Nail, Clarion, Dick Nail, Clarion, and Gary Nail, Webster City; plus, many great-nieces and nephews.
