Mrs. Boynton Dies in City

Mrs. Charles L. Boynton, 80, longtime Webster City resident, died at 2 a.m. today at her home, 1435 First Street. She had suffered a stroke on March 9 and had been seriously ill since that time.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Nielsen officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Bertha May Thompson, daughter of Norman and Jennie Thompson, was born Dec. 26, 1872, at St. Louis, Michigan. When she was 16-year-old, she came with her parents to Iowa, locating on a farm near Webster. City.

She was united in marriage June 29, 1892, to Charles L. Boynton, and the couple farmed near Webster City for several years before moving to Webster City, her home since.

Mr. Boynton preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1943. She was also preceded in death by one son, who died in infancy, by her parents and two sisters

She is, survived by one son and two daughters: Orville Boynton of Estherville, Miss Gladys Boynton and Mrs. Lerlene Matthew, both of Webster City; three grandchildren, Mrs. Joseph (Delores) Rusk and Sandra Boynton of Estherville and Bernard Matthew of Webster City; one great-grandson, Alan Joseph Rusk and two brothers, Roy Thompson of Binghamton, N. Y., and George Thompson, of Eugene, Ore.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webster City and always faithful in her attendance as long as her health permitted. Her church her family were always her main interests in life.18
