Joel Brian Erickson, 61, of Jewell, IA, unexpectedly died March 9, 2020 following a car accident while working in Amarillo, TX. He was the son of Palmer and Marilyn Erickson.

Joel was a guy that enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a hard worker and spent his free time with his friends and family. He loved going fishing and was a huge sports fan. He was a die hard Cyclone and loved cheering on the Packers and Yankees. When he wasn't talking sports, he was often boasting about his kids and grandkids. He was proud, to say the least.

He leaves behind his four children; Aaron (Jenna) Erickson, Leah (Nick) Consier, Justine (Heath) Johnson, Benjamin (Ericka) Erickson. He is also survived by his mother Marilyn and siblings; Sherri (Doug) Hove, Wendy (Peter) Gay, Rachel Erickson-Hammer and Kent (Joyce) Erickson. He was a proud grandpa to his eight grandchildren; Easton, Reagan, Zane, Kendall, Bradley, Ila, Millie and Tate. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is precedeased by his brother, Brad and his father, Palmer.

Visitation will be held at the Jewell Golf and Country Club on Thursday, March 12 from 5-7. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13 at 4 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, IA.
