Stanley Adix, 85, of Ellsworth passed away June 16, 2020 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. The family received friends at the Ellsworth City Park open shelter house from 4 to 6 on Friday, June 19.
Stanley Louis Adix was born December 11, 1934 in Ogden, Iowa to Louis Howard and Gwendolyn (Stephens) Adix. He lived in the Ogden area until 1946 when the family moved to a farm southeast of Ellsworth.
Stanley attended Ellsworth Consolidated School and graduated with the class of 1953. He was active in 4-H showing his livestock at the state fair several years. He entered the Army in 1957, spending 15 months of his military career in Germany. On June 20, 1959, Stanley and Janet Mae Coates were united in marriage at the Union Methodist Church in Ellsworth, the service being conducted by Stanley's grandmother, Rev. Virginia Schierholtz.
To this union three children were born: Richard Alan, Wanda Kay and Donald Louis. Stanley farmed in the Ellsworth area with his father and son Donald until retirement. He owned "Adix Boot and Repair Shop" in Boone in partnership with daughter, Wanda, for several years.
Stanley was active in the local Methodist Church, holding several offices on the board and singing in the Choir. He sang solos and in quartets for special occasions. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was care giver to his special needs granddaughter, Amanda.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, son Richard (Karen) Adix of Akron, Iowa, daughter Wanda Adix of Boone, Iowa and son, Donald (Holly) Adix of Ellsworth, grandchildren Arlina Miller, Arianna Adix and Stanley Adix.
Family members preceding him in death are his parents, granddaughter Amanda Jae Adix and grandson Cory Howard Adix, brother, Stephen Adix and sister Rosalyn Butler.
Donations in memory of Stanley can be made to Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth Historical Museum or Israel Family Hospice House.
Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell entrusted with arrangements.
