Upon her husband's return from military service, they returned to Harvey, Illinois and there their daughter Christine was born.

In 1948 the family moved to Moberly, Missouri where Dr. Cohrs practiced medicine for 39 years. Ramona and her husband were active members of Zion Lutheran Church. She maintained a lifelong interest in the fields of nursing and public health, volunteering in many capacities. In 1989 she was elected to the Randolph County Board of Health and served for over ten years. In 2000 she moved to University Retirement Community in Davis, California.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Viola Brewer, in 2002 and by her husband in 1994.
