Robert L. "Bob" Landreth, 54, of 1013 Adams Street in Stratford, Iowa passed away at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa on Thursday morning, August 10, 2006.
He was born on March 2, 1952 in Webster City, Iowa the son of Earl Dean and Delores (Reese) Landreth. On August 4, 1973 he married Katherine Musser at the Church of the Cross in Port Byron, Illinois.
Bob was a 1970 graduate of Geneseo High School in Geneseo, Illinois and attended Blackhawk Junior College where he received a degree in tool design. While living in Illinois, Bob worked at G.E. and the Illinois Department of Transportation. He later moved back to Iowa, where he worked with his father at Landreth Construction. He later went into business for himself, owning and operating Landreth Dozer. Bob currently was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation in the facility department and operated Landreth Furniture Restoration. He enjoyed restoring and rebuilding furniture, old car and building stock cars. Bob had a passion for bluegrass music and through the years was involved in several bluegrass bands playing his banjo.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Stratford actively participating in all areas of church and was a member of the Stratford Lions' Club having served as a past president. Bob was a charter member of the Stratford Jaycees and in the past had served as a volunteer EMT with the Stratford Fire Department.
His father Earl Dean Landreth in March of 1999 preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Katherine of Stratford; 2 sons Scott Landreth of Great Falls, MT and Zach Landreth of Stanhope, IA; mother Delores Landreth of Dayton, IA; 2 sisters Rojean "Cookie" (Dave) Whittington of Geneseo, IL and Cherie (Kevin) Angstrom of Boone, IA; 3 nieces Melissa Fletcher of East Moline, IL, Michelle Splear of Colona, IL and Kelli Angstrom of Boone, IA; 2 nephews Josh Angstrom of Ames, IA and Kyle Angstrom of Boone, IA; 1 great-niece and 3 great-nephews.
Services will be Monday morning, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Stratford, Iowa with Rev. James Mead officiating. Friends may call at the Baptist Church in Stratford on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present at the Baptist Church on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends. Following the service the body will be cremated.
