Helen Halsne, 90, of Webster City, a former rural Williams resident, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Southfield Wellness Community at Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the U.C.C. - Congregational at Blairsburg, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be at the foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church prior to the service.

Helen Margaret Bell, daughter of Joseph and Hilda Hansen Bell, was born May 14, 1915 on a farm north of Blairsburg. She attended Blairsburg Public School graduating in 1932. On December 3, 1936, she married Torges J. Halsne at the Bell home north of Blairsburg. The couple farmed southwest of Williams. They retired in 1983 and remained on their farm. She was a homemaker. She had resided at Southfield for the past year. For 26 years, the couple had wintered in Texas.

Mrs. Halsne is survived by her husband, Torges, sons and daughters-in-law, Grant and Janice Halsne of Decorah; Dennis and Linda Halsne of Slater; daughter and son-in-law, Luana and Donald Beeson of Olney, MD; daughter-in-law, Meredith Halsne of Minneapolis, MN; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, June Hansen of Chicago Heights, IL; brother, Robert Bell of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Halsne in 1992; infant granddaughter, Nancy Kay Halsne; brother, Maurice Bell; sisters, Lorene Robie and Carol Ballantine.

She was a member of the U.C.C. - Congregational at Blairsburg and was active in choir, church circles and other various areas of involvement in her church.
