William W. Anderson

Wm. W. Anderson, son of Andrew and Christine Anderson, was born in Boone County, Iowa, Jan. 2, 1869. He passed out of this life Saturday, Dec. 31, 1949, in the home of Mrs. Alice Clanahan in Stratford. Had he lived until Jan. 2 his age would have been 81 years.

With his parents he came to Stanhope in 1889 and made his home there for 43 years. In 1932 he came to Stratford and made his home with Mrs. Clanahan until the time of his passing.

He became ill about three years ago and from that illness he never recovered. He was able to be up and about and became bedfast only about a week before his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and one sister. He is survived by two half brothers, Sam of Stanhope, and Arthur of St. Ong, S. Dak., and one half sister, Mrs. Alice Clanahan, of Stratford.

Those who knew him best said he was a good man and always willing to help anyone who needed his help. He had a habit of seeing the little helpful things to be done for others and to do them was his greatest life satisfaction. Although he was never married he had a great love for children and the children were very fond of him.

He will be greatly missed by all with whom he associated through the years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 2, in the Jackson funeral home. The Rev. C.F. Schmidt of Stanhope officiated at the services. Songs were sung by Mrs. Harold Westrum, with Mrs. W.R. Holstrom as accompanist.

Following the services, the remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were: Berkley Berglund, Fred Samuelson, Walter Adam, Stanley Quick, Leonard Johnson and D.G. Gast.
