OBITUARY

Another Pioneer Passes Away.

Saturday morning at 4 o'clock, Mrs. Christina A. Anderson passed away at her residence in Stratford. She had been sick nearly all winter or about six months. When first taken down she showed signs of decay from old age and it was with eyes filled with tears that the kind friends who watched over her saw these signs.

"Aunt Christine," a name by which she was known all over Stratford and surrounding country, was a good christian woman, always doing some kind deed for others. She was filled with that dear love always seen in people with a good christian heart. She has been a member of the Lutheran church since childhood, but of late years has been in closer communication with her God than ever before.

Deceased was born in Skåne, Sweden, in 1823. In 1844 she came to America, settling in Boston and became the wife of A. Anderson. He was killed in the Civil War in 1865. She lived in Dubuque a number of years and then moved to Marion township and then to Stratford a few years ago. She was among the first settlers in this part of Iowa. She was buried Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church, Rev. Andeer conducting the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Olson cemetery.
