Swanson

Mrs. Sophia C. Swanson was born in Sweden, June 23, 1835 and died at Stratford, Iowa on Monday, Nov. 1905, at 11:20 p.m. at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 27 days. She was married to S.J. Swanson, June 6, 1857 and came to this country in 1867, where they settled in what was then called Swede Bend and lived in that vicinity ever since. Her husband preceded her to the better land six years ago. She leaves five children, two girls and three boys, A.F. Swanson of Stanhope, Mrs. Augusta F. Rodine, O.F. Swanson and C.D. Swanson of Stratford and Mrs. Hilda C. Johnson of Omaha. One daughter, Lorena, has preceded her to the better land. She leaves also eighteen grandchildren and a host of friends and members of the Swedish M.E. church of which she was a faithful member. Peace to her memory.

The funeral will be held today at the home of her daughter at 1 o'clock p.m. conducted by Rev. John Linn.
