Swan Jacob Swanson passed away at the family residence Saturday, September 30, 1899, after five years of suffering. Deceased was born in Emtefall, Ulrika Socken, Linkopings Lan, Sweden, May 1, 1833, being 66 years, 4 months, and 20 days old at the time of his death. In 1848 he was married to Miss Sophia Peterson. They emigrated to America in 1867 and located at Swede Bend where they lived until a few years ago when they moved to Stratford. Rodine and Oscar F. and Chas. D. Swanson of Stratford. Besides these he leaves a wife, eight brothers and sisters, six in America and two in Sweden, and seventeen grand children to mourn his loss.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. John Linn and Rev. J.E. Berggren officiated. The number who attended the last sad rites testified to the esteem in which Mr. Swanson was held by his many friends.
