Mrs. Rena Swanson
(Stratford)

Stratford (Special) - Mrs. Rena A. Swanson, 86, of Stratford, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Boone County Hospital, where she was admitted Sunday. She had been in ill health for the past month.

Mrs. Swanson was born in Boone County, but had been a longtime Stratford resident. She was educated in the country schools in Hamilton County, and was a housewife and a member of the South Marion Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Louise) Scott of Stratford; a son, Lorren Swanson of Cedar Falls; a brother, E.N. Teander of Evanston, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 nieces - three living in Chicago, and one in the State of Washington.

Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Methodist Church at Stratford, with the Rev. Walter Phelps in charge, assisted by Pastor Robert Carlson of the Stratford Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery, located south of Stratford with the Hanson Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Swanson Dies in Boone

STRATFORD - Mrs. Rena A. Swanson, 86, died at the Boone County hospital Tuesday evening. She had been a patient there since Sunday, having been in ill health about one month.

Funeral services will be at the Calvary Methodist church oh Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Phelps officiating and assisted by Pastor Robert Carlson. Burial will be in South Marion cemetery, with Hanson Funeral home of Stratford in charge.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Louise) Scott of Stratford; one son, Lorren Swanson, Cedar Falls; one brother, E.N. Teander, Evanston, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four nieces.

She was born in Boone county, but had. lived in Stratford most of her life. She was educated in the, rural schools in Hamilton county, and was a member of the South Marion Methodist church.
