MRS. SEVERT SONKSEN

Grandma Sonksen, for many years a very highly respected resident of this section, died at the home of her son, Paul Sonksen Friday lacking only about 15 months of being one hundred years old. It is a half century ago since she with her husband came to this country from the fatherland and all but two years of that time deceased had lived in this community where she was beloved by everyone. Here she was a familiar figure to all and here she was revered for her many kindly words and her many acts of kindness.

Until about a month ago she was in very good health for one of her years but about ten days before her death her loyal heart which had beaten for so many years in her loving breast, faltered and she went to join her maker. Perhaps no aged woman in this part of the state was more highly respected than was Grandma Sonksen and in her death many, many will mourn a true and kind friend and close relatives will miss the love of a fine mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of her son Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of the Rev. C.R. Yeager of the local Methodist church. Mrs. Gust Berglund, a close friend of the deceased, sang a solo and a quartet composed of Mrs. S.E. Shaeffer, Mrs. George Peterson, A.T. Johnson and Sam Swedlund, sang two numbers. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.

Ingeburg Casperson was born in West Bargum, Schlieswig-Holstein, Germany, on August 4, 1833. She died April 15, 1932 at the ripe old age of 98 years, 8 months, 11 days.

In 1855 she was united in marriage to Sievert Sonksen, who preceded her in death July 8, 1903. To this union was born three children, two of whom died in infancy.
