DIED - At the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Swedlund, Friday, June 9, 1899, Rev. Joseph Sanderson at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 10 days.

Joseph Sanderson was born in Sweden, February 6th, 1829, came to America in 1854, settling in Galesburg, Ill. where he was married to Miss Hannah Johnson. Seven children were born to them, three sons and four daughters. His wife and four children have preceded him home, three children remain to mourn his death: Mrs. J.W. Swedlund of Stratford, Rev. Mrs. John Axelson of Fitchburg, Mass., and Edward Sanderson of Storm Lake. Rev. Sanderson moved to Hamilton county, Iowa in 1867, settling 5 1/2 miles southeast of Stratford on a quarter section of land, where he lived until 1884 when he moved to Buena Vista county. He lived there until last November when he moved back to his old home where he died. Funeral services were held at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Swedlund, Sunday, June 11. He was laid to rest in the Olson Cemetery. [South Marion Cemetery]
