Mrs. Brita Samuelson suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday morning and passed away Monday evening at 11:45 o’clock. Obituary will appear next week.

Samuelson

Mrs. Bertha Samuelson, a pioneer settler of Hamilton county passed away in Stratford Monday evening, January 18, 1909 at 11:45 o’clock, the cause of her death being due to a paralytic stroke which she received on Saturday morning. Deceased was born in Sweden September 13, 1833 and came to this country with her husband, Jonas Samuelson, in 1869, locating in Hamilton county. In 1870 she united with the Swedish M.E. church of which denomination she had been a faithful member until death. Three daughters were born to this union, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. F. A. Stroman, Frederick, S.D.; Mrs. P. J. Johnson, Stanhope, Iowa; and Mrs. P. Rostberg, Des Moines, Iowa. Besides these there are nine grandchildren and numerous friends to mourn her sudden demise.

Funeral services were held at the Swedish M.E. church, south of Stratford Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Engstrom, and the remains were laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery.
