Mrs. Betsy Peterson was born in Sweden, Dec. 22, 1825 and died in Hamilton County, Ia., April 28, 1904, aged 78 years, 4 months and 6 days. Deceased was united in marriage to Swan Peterson in the year 1858. In the year of 1866 they bade farewell to their native land to make their home in America, locating first at Rock Island, Ill., where they lived until 1871, then moving to Hamilton Co., Ia., where they lived until the voice of a loving Savior entered the home saying "Enough" then death separated the loved ones, the husband preceding the wife thirty-four years in death. Unto them were born four sons and two daughters, all of whom were present to mourn the sad loss of a mother with the exception of one son and daughter who preceded the mother in death thirty-three years. The last words of the aged mother were filled with cheer and comfort and placing her trust in God, she passed from the tolls and troubles of earth with perfect satisfaction. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Carlson at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, after which remains were laid at rest in the Will Olson cemetery.

Berta Jonsdotter was born in Vittskövle, Sweden Dec. 23, 1825 to Jon Jonsson and Elsina Olofsdotter at Eskilstorp. She was baptized there on Dec. 26, 1825. (ArkivDigital: Vittskövle CI:3 (1824-1861) Page 9)

Hamilton County Death Records show Betsy Peterson was born in Sweden and died on April 28, 1904 in Marion Township, Hamilton County, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 5 days (based on her age at death her birth date would be Dec. 23, 1825 (stone shows 1826).
