Obituary
Henry Emil Peterson

Henry Emil Peterson, son of Peter and Ella [Vedeen] Peterson, was born Dec. 6, 1882, on the farm northeast of Stratford and died in the county hospital in Webster City, Jan. 27, 1943, at the age of 60 years, 1 month, 21 days.

He grew to manhood in that community and took a great deal of interest in farming. He had not enjoyed good health for some years but endured his illness in silence and uncomplainingly.

In infancy he was baptized in the South Marion Methodist church.

He never married but enjoyed the company of little children and was especially interested in the church services which came over the radio. Unassuming in his wants, he was kindly to everyone and he will be greatly missed by many friends.

He leaves to mourn his death, three brothers, Eleck, Floyd and John, all of this community, one uncle, Erick Peterson, of Ames, two nieces, six nephews and a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Emily and Mabel, and three brothers, Elmer, Edd and Oscar.

Last rites were held Sunday afternoon with a service in the home at 2 o'clock and in Calvary Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock with the Revs. J.G. Waterman and J.E. Selander officiating. A quartette composed of Miss Minnie Williams, Mrs. Lester Vegors, A.T. Johnson and Sam Swedlund, sang "The Unclouded Day," "Going Down the Valley" and "The Eastern Gate."

Burial was in the South Marion cemetery with the following pallbearers: James Coulter, Wallace Young, Martin Westrum, Elmer Angstrom, Alfred Erickson, Reuben Erickson.
